Faculty Members Complete Research Capacity Training under DOST-NRCP Program

Twenty-one faculty members from three higher education institutions (HEIs) in Taguig City, Muntinlupa City, and Pateros were recognized in a completion ceremony after successfully finishing their research capacity training under the Department of Science and Technology-National Research Council of the Philippines (DOST-NRCP) Professional Development Program held at the NRCP Auditorium, Bicutan, Taguig City on June 21, 2025.

The five-month program, spearheaded by DOST-NRCP, aimed to enhance the research capabilities of faculty members from Taguig City University (11 participants), Lyceum of Alabang (3 participants) and Pateros Technological College (7 participants). The training covered proposal development, scientific publishing, and project management, all supervised by NRCP experts.

DOST-NRCP Consultant Dr. Marie Paz E. Morales, Regular Member from the NRCP Division of Governmental, Educational, and International Policies, provided an overview of the program and highlighted its objective to retool faculty members through structured workshops and mentoring sessions. She commended the participants’ dedication to improving their research competencies.

The faculty members presented their research and development (R&D) roadmaps, one of the key outputs of the program, and a total of nine group-developed proposals, all aligned with local and national development priorities.

DOST Undersecretary for Regional Operations Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang, represented by Executive Assistant III Mr. Eduardo C. Fugoso, reiterated DOST’s support for initiatives that strengthen academic research and faculty development.

“When we value our teachers by building their capacities, we also shape the future of our youth. Similarly, strengthening their research skills opens doors for community-based solutions,” Fugoso said.

NRCP Executive Director Dr. Bernardo N. Sepeda and DOST-National Capital Region (NCR) Regional Director Engr. Romelen T. Tresvalles emphasized the role of faculty development in achieving institutional excellence and encouraged participants to sustain a culture of research and collaboration.
