Post pandemic, the increase in the process of commodities particularly food, electricity, and crude oil has terribly affected the low-income earners including the transport sector and the riding public. Some data also show that the situation was exacerbated by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine that started in February 2022, and still unresolved. Russia is one of the biggest suppliers of oil and gas and the embargo has triggered the rocketed cost of gas.
To discuss the issue and provide short-term and long-term strategies in resolving the issue, the National Research Council of the Philippines convened scholars from the Divisions of Governmental, Educational, and International Policies (Division I), Social Sciences (Division VIII) and Engineering and Industrial Research (Division VII) along with industry practitioners from the Ayala Group ACE Enexor, Inc., Climargy, Inc., and the Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance.
