Cluster 6: Sustainable Cities and Communities. SDG addressed: SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities and SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation. The NRCP Cluster has as its theme: “S2R (Sustainable, Smart, and Resilient) Livable Cities in the Philippines: Nurturing the Cultural and Heritage Wellbeing of the Nation through the SDGs”.

Cluster 6 will showcase selected cities in the country which demonstrate innovation, best practices, governance reforms and commitment to promote sustainable development. In the course of the exhibit, it will feature how interdisciplinal science and technology have complemented and facilitated the accomplishment of the three (3) pillars of the SDG 11 such as people, planet and prosperity, and how SDG 6 has been integrated in the development roadmap of a city. Selected DOST attached agencies and regional offices are presented as partners and enablers in making sustainable development more research-based, technology-driven and collaborative in nature.

It also offers fora that will be helpful to the public, particularly the LGUs, students, the private sector, and NGOs. Fora presentations will include lessons, challenges, best practices of the cities featured, as well as the science and technology projects in these cities. External partners of Cluster 6 include the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), the Intramuros Administration, and the UN Habitat.

For the exhibit the participating cities are Dagupan, Cauayan, Iloilo, Butuan, Davao, Vigan, Tacloban, Legazpi and Puerto Princesa, in close coordination with DOST Regional Offices I, II, V, VI, VIII, XI, and CARAGA.

Relevant technologies for the cities will be featured by DOST agencies to include PTRI, PCIEERD, MIRDC, and STII.

This Cluster is aligned with the DOST-NRCP’s ATIN Program on Inclusive Nation Building (Ang Tinig Natin), specifically on S2R (Sustainable, Smart and Resilient) Livable Cities in the Philippines.
