A total of 404 new Associate Members, approved by the NRCP Governing Board, have been added to the growing national pool of experts of the National Research Council of the Philippines, making its total membership at 4,958 by the end of 2020.

NRCP relies on its members in carrying out its advisory mandate which addresses the demand for expert knowledge in tackling issues of national interest.

NRCP members get priority in funding opportunities for research projects, in the availment of the thesis and dissertation manuscript grants, free-of-charge publication in the NRCP Research Journal, and an opportunity to network with other researchers, scientists, engineers and artists in different disciplines.

Members can likewise be tapped to share their expertise during the annual meetings, scientific conferences, project evaluations, and as members of technical working groups on S&T issues of national relevance.

In 2020, the Council launched more financial opportunities which support research grants, conferences and publication expenses of members under the programs, NRCP S&T Experts Pool (NSTEP) and the Basic Research Information Translation for Empowerment in the Regions (BRITER).

In its first year of implementation, NSTEP, in partnership with DOST XI and DOST VI, supports the promotion of basic research in the regions through its small R&D funding opportunities particularly for new and budding researchers. Interested members from Regions 6, 7 and 8 may get in touch with DOST VI at This email address is being protected from spambots. BRITER, through its Research Dissemination in Local and International Platforms (RDLIP) component, offers financial grants for international and local conferences, as well as publication grants in ISI and Scopus indexed journals. The RDLIP Call for application is extended until February 15, 2021.
