The National S&T Week Celebration
Since 1993 until 2019, by virtue of Proclamation No. 163 of 1993, NSTW celebration was celebrated every 3rd week of July to showcase the significant contributions of science and technology to the national development. However, last August 2019, President Rodrigo Duterte signed the Proclamation 780 where the celebration of NSTW will now be conducted every 4th week of November to ensure “maximum participation” of schools, students, stakeholders, and the public during the week-long celebration.
This is the first time for the DOST to conduct the NSTW in November, and also the first time that activities, including exhibits, be held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Still, the NSTW will run for seven (7) days, from 23 – 29 November 2020. This year’s theme highlights the efforts and initiatives of DOST and the entire scientific community in the area of research and development; practical technologies; innovation in agriculture, industry, and health; technical services and trainings; and financial assistance to entrepreneurs to help every Filipino adapt to COVID-19 under the new normal.
For the 2020 NSTW, NRCP will be conducting 5 webinars on the following topics: CYBERSECURITY: Are We Serious About It?, SCIENCE OF DREAMS: Why do I get nightmares?, Health boosters vs Infections, GOVERNMENT-TECHNOLOGY INTERSECTION: Can you help me stop this pandemic?, and ANG BIGAT NG SALITA: Ilang Pagninilay sa Gitna ng Pandemya.
