The ‘home’ of more than 4,000 member-scientists, researchers, engineers, and technologists in the Philippines launches two new financial grants today, November 20.

The National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP), oldest research council in the country, opens new opportunities to its members.

The international and local conference, and the publication grants will give the NRCP members an opportunity to present their research results locally or abroad and to publish research papers in ISI or Scopus indexed journals.

These grants are implemented under the Council’s program on “Support to Research Dissemination in Local and International Platforms (RDLIP), one of the three components of the project Leveraging Basic Research Information Translation for Empowerment in the Regions Program or BRITER which promotes a science culture in the regions for global competitiveness.

This project, led by NRCP Executive Director Marieta Bañez Sumagaysay, was officially implemented on June 2020.

Financial Grant for International and Local Conferences

Recognizing the significance of presenting research results through conferences, this RDLIP grant will offer an excellent opportunity for researchers to disseminate the results of  research projects to local and international communities. This grant will also provide them an opportunity to be updated in the latest developments in their fields of specialization and lead to the establishment of mutually beneficial partnerships with international researchers.

Slots are limited per year with assistance for 15 researchers for local conferences with a maximum assistance of PhP25,000 per researcher. For international conferences, in Asia, 10 researchers will be assisted for  PhP50,000 each; and five researchers for UK/US with assistance of PhP100,000 each.

The submission of application will be open from November 20 until December 20 this year. The target conferences should be for next year from January 15 to May 15.

Due to restriction of travels brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, online conferences with registration fees are also supported.

Financial Grant for Publication in ISI or Scopus indexed journals

The second RDLIP grant, a publication grant, intends to support expenses for publication of research papers in ISI or Scopus indexed journals.

The financial grant is limited to 10 NRCP member-researchers per year with assistance of PhP20,000 per member.

The publications should be from November 20, 2020 – May 15, 2021.

Both grants are open to all members, but prioritizes new and young NRCP Members from new partner institutions. Research outputs from projects that were either supported by NRCP, other DOST councils, or their respective institutions, and which are aligned to the NRCP National Integrated Basic Research Agenda  (NIBRA) will be supported.
