Technological advancements offer a wide range of opportunities in shaping the country’s development; thus, digital transformation or adoption of digital technology has to be implemented to meet the changing needs and demands across sectors, including R&D.

On October 19, the NRCP Visayas Regional Cluster (NRCP VRC) will hold its Annual Scientific Conference and 19th Membership Assembly with the theme: Digital transformation in Research: Powers and Perils at the Cebu Technological University – Danao Campus on a Hybrid-Flexible (HyFlex) Arrangement.

This annual convention will serve as an avenue for the interaction and discussion of more than 600 NRCP VRC members on how digital transformation can enhance their research frameworks and practices.  Their visions on the use of digital technology in R&D will be useful in crafting policies and guidelines for the Visayas Region.

The conference activities include: scientific plenary sessions, open forum, business meeting, and poster competition.

The scientific sessions cover the following presentations: Genomic Biosurveillance: Tracking SARS-CoV-2 Variants in Western Visayas by Dr. Victor Marco Emmanuel Ferriols, Regular Member, Division of Biological Sciences; Computing Tools: Training-to-Publication Framework by Dr. Lanndon Ocampo, Regular Member, Division of Engineering and Industrial Research; and Digital Transformation of Research in the Humanities/Arts by Dr. Hope Yu, Regular Member/Chair, Division of Humanities.

DOST Secretary Renato U. Solidum, Jr. is the event’s Honorable Guest Speaker while DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy is the Keynote Speaker. NRCP VRC Chair, Dr. Nathanial Anasco, will preside the Business Meeting while NRCP President, Dr. Christine D. Villagonzalo, will lead the oath-taking of new NRCP VRC Associate and Regular Members.
