Drawing inspiration from youthful expressions on the National Quincentennial Commemoration, the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) will hold the NRCP Kabataan Painting Exhibit on June 28-30, 2022 at the UP Town Center in Diliman, Quezon City.

The said exhibit will showcase the top 20 winning entries from the 67 college students, representing various regions of the country, who participated in the said competition. Moreover, the top six winners will be announced and conferred their respective tokens, certificates, and cash prizes.

There will also be a ribbon-cutting ceremony to kick off the exhibit while the closing program will include the announcement of the winners. The Virtual Gallery containing the 67 entries will also be opened to the public. Visitors can access the gallery through the following link: https://nqc.nrcpvirtual.com/painting-competition/.

Internationally-acclaimed Filipino painters such as Professor Nestor Vinluan and Professor Benjie Cabangis will share messages during the event. Both are from the College of Fine Arts in the University of the Philippines Diliman.

Further, visitors will have the chance to interact with the winners. Students, in particular, will have the opportunity to learn from the painters their best practices to hone their creative talents.

Admission to the exhibit is free but the Council reminds visitors to follow COVID-19 health protocols.

The said exhibit and awarding will conclude the NRCP’s quincentennial-related activities. Previously, it conducted a series of public lectures featuring various historical and cultural topics including alternative viewpoints of the Commemoration. //Daniel Jason M.
