Last March 16, 2022, the National Research Council of the Philippines – Research and Development Leadership (NRCP – RDLead) Program and the Bulacan State University (BulSU) formally launched the RDLead engagement with NRCP Regular Member in Engineering and Industrial Research Division, Dr. Melchizedek I. Alipio as the RD Leader.

The launch was participated by the BulSU President, Dr. Cecilia S. Navasero-Gascon, NRCP Executive Director, Dr. Marieta Bañez Sumagaysay, RD Leader, Dr. Alipio, and the other officials and members of the faculty of BulSU, across administrative offices and colleges.

Pres. Gascon and Dr. Alipio, in their messages, encouraged the BulSU, both teaching and non-teaching personnel to pursue research and build on the learnings they will acquire from this R&D engagement.

Dr. Sumagaysay, for her part, presented various NRCP projects and programs to inspire the participants to take advantage of these available opportunities. She also discussed the NRCP National Basic Integrated Research Agenda (NIBRA) and challenge the participants to develop and submit proposals to NRCP.

Dr. Alipio’s engagement with BulSU aims to train both the teaching and non-teaching personnel on research writing and provide them with the theories and concepts of Internet of Things (IoT).

During his visit, Dr. Alipio also checked the laboratories of the Engineering Department to assess the availability and suitability of the resources and equipment in pursuing R&D projects on IoT and other research undertakings of DOST – BulSU BARAS TBI.


The March 15, 2022 training on Research Writing Review and Application

In addition to the assessment of the laboratory resources and equipment Dr. Alipio also conducted training on Wireless Sensor Network and Research Writing Review and Application.

Dr. Alipio said that the training programs will prepare and equip both the teaching and non-teaching personnel with general and technical knowledge that they need to develop research programs and pursue IoT research with their institutional partners.  Likewise, Dr. he provided the participants with some basic techniques in developing a strategic plan and roadmap for the research program which are required to get funding grants from the DOST Niche Centers in the Regions Program (NICER).

Engr. Dennis R. Dela Cruz – Program Leader of the Department of Science and Technology – Bulacan State University Business Assistance for Research Acceleration and Sustainability Technology Business Incubator (DOST – BulSU BARAS TBI) is designated as the lead RDLead engagement coordinator.

This face-to-face training was officially closed with ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between NRCP and BulSU.  (Marfy Lita, Project Development Officer V)
