NRCP Division of Social Sciences Conducts Scientific Session on Data Privacy

In the Philippines, data privacy is becoming an issue due to the widespread use of social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Dr. Emmanuel C. Lallana, the session speaker and NRCP Associate Member, added that Facebook users interact with everything on Facebook not knowing that their data are continuously being collected and provided to the hand of advertisers.

Companies must only collect the “minimum amount of required data needed for service delivery.” Social media users must be more vigilant since every online interaction contributes to the development of a personalized profile. (Ledger Clemente, DOST-NRCP)
