DOST RDLead Boosts Research, Technical Capacity of Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges–Marbel Inc.
Koronadal City, 26-28 January 2026 – The Department of Science and Technology–National Research Council of the Philippines (DOST–NRCP), through its Research Development and Leadership (RDLead) Program, conducted a three-day capacity-building engagement at Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges–Marbel Inc. (RMMC-MI), a private higher education institution in South Cotabato.
Led by RD Leader Dr. Mideth B. Abisado, the activity aimed to enhance faculty competencies in research development, scientific writing, and technical skills aligned with institutional and national research priorities.
Faculty members from various academic units presented research proposals on topics including employability, instructional challenges to customer relationship management, alumni engagement, cybersecurity, and digital governance.
RD Leader Dr. Abisado and Dr. Eric Blancaflor provided expert feedback to improve methodological rigor, thematic relevance, and alignment with the DOST Harmonized National Research and Development Agenda (HNRDA).
On the second day, DOST-NRCP Senior Science Research Specialist Ms. Mary Charlotte O. Fresco discussed the NRCP membership application process and its benefits.
Senior SRS Fresco advised RMMC-MI staff to meet the qualifications for NRCP membership to benefit from increased funding and training opportunities.
Participants also joined a hands-on scientific writing workshop facilitated by RD Leader Abisado.
RDLead Project Senior Technical Specialist Mr. Marfy H. Lita presented available research funding programs under DOST–NRCP and the DOST–Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD) Human Resource Development Program (HRDP).
The final day featured proposal consultations and a technical training on network design and configuration, covering routing fundamentals, Routing Information Protocol (RIP), and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF).
The engagement concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Albert P. Balongoy, Vice President for Academic Affairs, who expressed gratitude to DOST–NRCP and the RDLead team for supporting RMMC-MI’s research and innovation initiatives.
