DOST-NRCP RDLead Upskills LPU-Laguna Researchers in Scientific Writing
Publishing research is often more challenging than writing it. To help faculty and researchers prepare manuscripts that meet journal standards, the Department of Science and Technology–National Research Council of the Philippines (DOST-NRCP), through its RDLead FIRE Program, conducted a scientific writing workshop at Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) Laguna on July 21, 2026.
The one-day intensive session trained 21 faculty members and researchers from LPU campuses in Laguna, Batangas, and Cavite. Participants learned practical techniques to refine draft manuscripts, strengthen research results presentation, and navigate the journal peer-review process.
RD Leader Dr. Ramon Benedicto Alampay spearheaded the peer-review workshop, titled “From Draft to Submission-Ready: A Writeshop in 5 (Reviewer) Questions.” He guided participants through each phase of the publication pipeline, including journal selection strategies. Selected participants presented their drafts, which were critiqued in live sessions, followed by revision plans for manuscript finalization.
Training participants represented diverse academic disciplines, including hospitality and tourism management, biology, communication arts, education, engineering, and allied health sciences.
By providing sustained mentoring and expert guidance, the DOST-NRCP RDLead FIRE Program continues to strengthen research capability in higher education institutions, helping faculty and researchers produce publication-ready outputs and contribute to a more inclusive and productive Philippine research ecosystem.
