DOST-NRCP RDLead Program Trains Romblon State University Faculty in Additive Manufacturing, Materials Research

QUEZON CITY, METRO MANILA — Five faculty members from Romblon State University (RSU) completed specialized training under the Department of Science and Technology–National Research Council of the Philippines (DOST-NRCP) Research Development and Leadership (RDLead) Program, strengthening their expertise in additive manufacturing and materials characterization.

Held January 6-9, 2026 at the University of the Philippines Diliman’s Department of Mining, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (DMME), the training was led by RD Leader Dr. Mitch Irene Kate G. Oyales. RSU faculty members included Engr. Mark Hendrix Y. Atienza, Dr. Henley F. Galiga, Engr. Mark Lawrence G. Ical, Engr. Christian M. Mortel, and Engr. Virne B. Dalisaytetur adipiscing elit. Mark Hendrix Y. Atienza, Engr. Virne B. Dalisay, and Dr. Henly F. Galiga during the Training on Additive Manufacturing and Materials Characterization on January 6-9, 2026, at Department of Mining, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (DMME), UP Diliman, Quezon City.

“The experience was enough to gain valuable insights into the capability and limitations of each material characterization equipment—something that cannot be obtained through webinars or lectures alone,” said Engr. Ical, noting its importance for his future research.

This hands-on training supports RSU’s engineering and technology programs and strengthens institutional research capacity through expert-led guidance.
