DOST-NRCP RDLead, DOH NCMH Conduct Research Capacity Development Training Series
The Department of Science and Technology – National Research Council of the Philippines (DOST-NRCP) Research and Development Leadership (RDLead) program, in partnership with the Department of Health (DOH) – National Center for Mental Health (NCMH), conducted a 4-day research capacity training from October 30 to November 20, 2025, at the Pag-Asa Hall, NCMH, in Mandaluyong City, equipping over 60 NCMH personnel with skills in research design, data analysis, and evidence-based policymaking.
Led by RDLeader Dr. Marc Eric S. Reyes and facilitated by experts from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) — Dr. Ma. Criselda T. Pacquing, Dr. Ryan Francis O. Cayubit, Dr. Joy R. Tungol, and Dr. Frederick I. Rey — the sessions provided hands-on training in qualitative and quantitative data analysis, research proposal development, research instrument design, and policy brief preparation to translate research findings into actionable recommendations.
Through these targeted sessions, RDLead strengthens NCMH’s research culture, empowering staff to produce evidence-based studies that support national mental health programs and policies. The collaboration underscores the ongoing partnership of DOST-NRCP and DOH-NCMH to enhance research capacity and improve mental health outcomes in the Philippines. (Byron Lei B.
