Monitoring Government Accountability using E-Government

Government accountability is fundamentally about politics and power (Newell and Wheeler, 2006) as it concerns the ruler and the ruled (Schedler, et. al., 1999). The United Nations includes Participation and Accountability in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to combat corruption and instill public trust. One of the strategies advocated by the United Nations is the so-called open government data (OGD). Since 2010, the Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG) of the UN utilizes the OGD or E-government.
