DOST-NRCP members continue to receive prestigious awards
Two prestigious awards were received recently by two (2) members of the National Research Council of the Philippines.
The Fukuoka Prize is an award established by the city of Fukuoka and the Fukuoka City International Foundation in 1990 to honor the outstanding work of individuals or organizations in preserving or creating Asian culture. There are three prize categories: Grand Prize, Academic Prize, and Arts and Culture Prize.
The Outstanding Professional of the Year by the Philippines’ Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) was established in 1994 to give appreciation to the achievement and service of professionals who excel in their respective fields of professional endeavor. It is the highest award given by PRC.
Sociologist Randolf “Randy” S. David and Pharmacist Doralyn S. Dalisay were recently recognized and awarded the Fukuoka Prize 2019 (Grand Prize category) and PRC 2019 Outstanding Professional of the Year in the field of Pharmacy, respectively.

NRCP Visayas Regional Cluster Scientific Poster Winners
The National Research Council of the Philippines named the three scientific poster winners of the recently concluded NRCP Visayas Regional Cluster and 16th General Membership Assembly last May 23, 2019 at the University of the Philippines Visayas Iloilo City. The following award winners bested 19 other poster entries participated in this year’s Poster Exhibit and Competition.

Human-centered FIRe highlights NRCP Visayas confab
Conference participants together with NRCP and DOST Region 6 officials.
The National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) highlighted the human context in guiding technological advances as the world enters the Fourth Industrial Revolution (FIRe) during its recently concluded Visayas Regional Cluster Annual Scientific Conference and 16th Annual Membership Assembly last May 23, 2019 at the University of the Philippines Visayas in Iloilo City.
Focusing on the theme “Humanizing the Fourth Industrial Revolution” the conference focused on the importance of integrating the human perspective in technological advances that define FIRe such as artificial intelligence, robotics, machine learning, genetic algorithms, disruptive technologies, spatial computing, nanotechnology, etc.
