03 April 2017.  The National Research Council of the Philippines swore in the new Governing Board members and officers for the fiscal year 2017 - 2018.

Left Photo: the Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology Prof. Fortunato T. de la Peña administers the Oath of Office to the new set of officers of NRCP Governing Board (L- R) led by Dr. Cristina A. Binag as President with Prof. Leslie E. Bauzon as Vice-President, Dr. Maria Natalia R. Dimaano as Corporate Secretary, and Dr. Mildred B. Oliveros as Corporate Treasurer.  Drs. Binag, Bauzon, Dimaano, and Oliveros correspondingly chairs the divisions of Chemical Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering/Industrial Research, and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Right Photo:  DOST Secretary de la Peña administers the oath of newly elected members of the Governing Board (L - R) Drs. Carlo N. Mingala and Edanjarlo J. Marquez.  Dr. Mingala will chair the division of Veterinary Medicine while Dr. Marquez for the division of Earth and Space Sciences.  In the same photo are re-elected chairs of the division of Physics and Humanities – Drs. Ramon A. Razal and Adelaida F. Lucero, respectively.

Not in the picture is the newly elected chair of the division of Biological Sciences, Dr. Arvin G. Diesmos and re-elected chair of division of Mathematical Sciences, Dr. Polly W. Sy.

NRCP was established on December 8, 1933, and officially started its operation in March 1935 with 114 pioneering Filipino researchers, scientists, and technologists.  NRCP is mandated to promote and support fundamental or basic research for the continuing improvement of the research capability of an individual or group of scientists.

To date, NRCP roster of members posts a total of more than 4,000 members spread over its 13 scientific divisions from across the country and the world.

NRCP is a scientific advisory agency of the Department of Science and Technology.
